Short bio on Henk
Henk Pretorius is a marketing researcher and research psychologist with expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, statistical analysis and online research methodologies. Henk has worked with blue-chip clients in a diverse range of industries, including FMCG, financial services, media, advertising, telecommunications, online services, pharmaceutical and academic. Henk’s academic background includes a B.A. Psychology and English (Cum Laude), Honours in Psychology (Cum Laude); Master’s Degree in Research Psychology, a research internship at Harvard University, and he is currently a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Cape Town. Henk is a registered research psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

Since 2008, Henk has been a guest lecturer in online research methods in the MA research psychology class at the North West University. Henk has presented papers at national conferences, and he has published papers in various popular marketing magazines and industry journals. He has also appeared as a guest on radio discussing online research in South Africa. In 2009, Henk won the Best First Time Speaker and Best Overall Paper awards at the Southern African Marketing Research Association (SAMRA) conference.

Henk does not like long walks on the beach.
Short bio on Elna
Elna Smit is a marketing researcher with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. Her main expertise lies in generating client insights through qualitative methodologies. She is particularly passionate about Market Research Online Communities (MROCs), and enjoys moderating and managing such communities. Elna has conducted various MROCs for different industries, ranging from FMCG and financial services to telecommunications, and has, in the past, led many traditional focus groups, mini groups and in-depth interviews. Elna also enjoys pharmaceutical research and has run many research projects involving doctors, specialists, pharmacists and patients.

Elna holds a BSocSci (Psychology) (Cum Laude) degree, BSocSci (Psychology) (Hons) degree and MA: Research Psychology degree from the University of Pretoria. Her paper about using qualitative research and MROCs amongst employees won the Best Paper award at the 32nd Southern African Marketing Research Association (SAMRA) conference in 2011. Aside from research, Elna is also passionate about marketing and client relationship management.

Elna loves cats and can do 30 push-ups in a minute.
