Online and Panel Surveys

Online and panel surveys encompass our quantitative research offering, with the main difference being the source from which participants are invited to take part in the survey. With online surveys, participants are invited to the survey either from a client database or a weblink. With panel surveys, we invite participants from our online panel, which consists of a large pool of South African consumers who can be surveyed immediately. These consumers have been extensively profiled to ensure that you can target the correct consumers based on your market research needs. In both instances, we take care of all aspects of the research process, from questionnaire design, programming, survey deployment and data collection, to eventual analysis and reporting. Our sophisticated survey system allows you to brand the survey according to your needs, to ask different types of questions, and to survey the exact target market through various sampling and quota control techniques. The technology used to employ your survey is only one part of the puzzle; our skilled online researchers will advise and assist in designing an online-friendly questionnaire that meets your research objectives. When data collection is complete, we will analyse the data and provide you with a report that is tailored to your needs.

MROCs (Market Research Online Communities)

Market Research Online Communities (MROCS) or Online Insight Communities are private online sites, with research-specific and social network features, where hundreds of consumers participate in research activities such as blogs, discussions, polls and photo-sharing. At the same time, moderators interact with members whilst systematically gathering insights. These communities are longitudinal in nature and typically run for between 2 weeks and 3 months, whilst others can run for years. These communities are custom-built for each client and are accessed by invitation only. The main purpose of these communities is to gather qualitative market research insights, while the social network features enhance member interaction and engagement. Once the community is set up, it is available 24/7 for the duration of the project, thus allowing for various topics to be explored in great breadth and depth. Furthermore, these communities allow members to post their own discussions, thereby enabling bottom-up insights. Clients are granted observer status which lets them view everything in the community and export discussions with a single click. Columinate’s MROC specialist will advise you on what target market, sample make-up and community branding will work best to meet your research objectives. The team will collaborate with you to design a discussion guide and provide insight through weekly status reports and comprehensive monthly reports.

Website Satisfaction Research | SITEisfaction

Whether you are an e-commerce client, a large corporate or an SME - the satisfaction of your website’s visitors has never been as paramount as now. Their experience on your website can significantly add or detract from their perceptions of your overall brand. After reviewing both local and international academic literature and case studies, Columinate has devised a website satisfaction model that accounts for over 80% of the variance in the overall satisfaction score. The model is called SITEisfaction. In essence, SITEisfaction is the only survey that can be deployed to the Columinate panel should you wish to get a general consumer view of your site, or, alternatively, it can be deployed to your customer database to get an idea of how your existing clients view your website. Amongst other things, SITEisfaction informs you of:
  • What website changes would enhance your visitors' level of satisfaction
  • Which aspects of the site are most important for driving customer satisfaction
  • The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of your visitors' experience
  • Which visitor segments are most/least satisfied and why
  • What drives loyalty and revisits to the site
  • What proportion of visitors are loyal to the site
  • How your site impacts the market’s perceptions of your brand
  • Which, when and why visitors are coming to your site
  • How easily visitors can find the specific pages or sections they are looking for
  • Suggestions for improving the site in the visitors’ own words
The process is extremely flexible and can be administered in a number of ways to ensure that you get optimal results. The Columinate team handles everything from start to finish, integrating research and IT. We will design the questionnaire to include any additional objectives you might have over and above the SITEisfaction measure, and provide you with a detailed report on how your website is performing. SITEisfaction can also be tracked over time to see whether your interventions enhance and improve visitors’ experiences.
